We might also mention at this point that the covenant theme integrates three genres of Revelation: prophecy, letter, and apocalyptic. The covenant theme connects to the genre of prophecy (2–3; 22:6–10, 18–20) in that the Old Testament prophets enforced the covenant with Israel, which is now applied to John and the church.
